Male circumcision linked to reduced HIV infections in Rakai

Researchers at the Rakai Health Sciences Programme say male circumcision is one of the interventions that has contributed to the reduction of HIV infections and sexually transmitted infections in the Rakai and Masaka regions. Dr. James Namutete, a laboratory supervisor says circumcised individuals have a higher likelihood of removing anaerobic bacteria, which facilitates HIV infections.
