The Jinja City Queens Women’s Football team has beaten the King of Kings team from Fort Portal 2-0 to lift the third edition of the Tokyo International Company for Africa Development (TICAD) Cup at the Njeru Technical Center in Jinja. The event is intended to create cooperation between refugees and host communities. The Pagirinya refugee settlement team has emerged fourth out of the six participating teams. Other refugee teams, Rwamwanja and Agojo Star Girls, have finished fifth and sixth respectively but with many lessons learned. The event aims to empower girls and women and promote peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities.
